Liverpool score 5 goals and remain the only unbeaten side in the semi-finals

Roma late goals gives them hope of another 3-0 upset to reach final

Liverpool 5- 2 Roma  – Tuesday 24th April

Liverpool’s Klopp wants a win in Rome next week

Mo Salah scored two goals and assisted a further two goals for his strike partner’s Saido Mané and Roberto Firmino who also scored a brace. The only negative to that performance was the two late goals scored by Roma that make it more of a closer contest for the return game in Rome next week. However, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said that he was not concerned with the two goals and says he is confident that they can get a win in Rome next Wednesday.

Reds are the only unbeaten team

Liverpool are the only unbeaten team in the competition after 11 games. Bayern’s defeat to Real and PSG leaves them on two defeats and Real have also lost to Tottenham and recently to Juventus. It would be fantastic achievement if the Reds could go the entire competition unbeaten to lift the trophy on the 26th May in Kiev.

They are solid, concentrated and focused at the back as well. They made a great impression with both wins over Manchester City, beating the English Champions by an aggregate score of 5-1. Those games – especially the away fixture in Manchester – showed the ability they really have in the defence as they denied the Citizen’s countless times.

Best attack should see them through to the final

Liverpool have scored 38 goals in 11 games, thus a averaging 3.45 goals per game, better than the other contenders in the semi-finals. Liverpool have scored more than 5 goals in three other games this campaign after they put 5 goals past Porto and 7 goals past both Maribor and Spartak Moscow.

We would expect Liverpool to qualify for the final and with this kind of attacking football, they have become joint favourites to lift the trophy with Real Madrid. The Reds are 5-time winners of the European Cup/Champions League and can lift a sixth title this season if they continue in this way.

MSF scored more goals than MSN

Liverpool were sharp and their direct game was very impressive. Roma’s defence was completely outplayed by the brilliant Liverpool trio who have established themselves as the new MSN this year – Messi, Suarez and Neymar who formed Barcelona’s strike trio that won the treble in 2014/15 season.

Mané, Salah and Firmino or MSF  have scored 88 goals between them in all competitions this season and are almost as good as the MSN who scored a record 131 goals in 2015/16 season – their highest in the three season’s they played together.

MSN managed to score 27 Champions League goals in that season and Liverpool’s fantastic trio have scored 28 goals so far – 10 Salah, 10 Firmino, 8 Mané and they still have 2 possible games to improve on that number. They have done very well to reach that amount of goals and we think they have the team to go all the way.
